Happy New Year!

Well, lets just say “Goodbye and Good Riddance” to 2020!

This past year featured a dramatic change of life for all of us, and for the most part, it was a humbling reconnection to what is important to all of us. Sure, swimming is important, but our health is so much more important. We have all witnessed the media updates on Covid-19 and the results and consequences have affected all of us. We are hoping that you and your family have taken the necessary steps in keeping your family safe and healthy throughout these times.

While the vaccine is in the middle of distribution, the actual effect on our lives and culture is still many, many months away. We may not see a return to normal life until perhaps the end of 2022. In the meantime, it is incredibly important to stay safe and be patient with the process.

For Diane & I, we wanted to share some positivity with you….enjoy….

Our five boys (Ben, Tim, Matt, Davis & Keaton) are doing great. Spread out across the country (Squamish, Welland, Aurora, Windsor) makes it difficult to get together. Emma, our three year granddaughter will soon be a big sister in May with a new baby girl to Ben & Lisa in Windsor!

We have found some wonderful things to rediscover this year. I have always had a woodworking shop in my home, but over the years, I simply have not had the time to create and build things. Fortunately, this year, with time on my hands and some smart shopping, we have put together some fun projects. Most projects are featured on my home web site located at www.jimsnow.ca. Hope you have time to visit!

We have also moved to a beautiful home in Central Whitby. The dogs (Casey & Brûlée) are enjoying a huge fenced backyard to play in. We have also expanded our 4 legged family with two kittens, Ruby & Skye. Way too much fun for everyone.

It’s great to be back on my Cannondale bicycle. I logged over 1000km this summer, and planning on hitting 2000km this coming summer…..losing 15 pounds along the way was a nice added benefit!

Our backyard features a large and stunning pond….we are hoping to add some Koi this summer. We are currently hosting a silver 16” pond for a neighbour for the winter.

We are also delighted to expand our product offering. We have been selected to be Canada’s sole provider of LumaLanes, the world leader in underwater training & pacing systems. Follow the light at: www.lumalanes.ca. We have a couple of quotes in progress. Once the swimmming season opens up, we are planning to visit some clubs with some live workout demonstrations of the system. It’s amazing.

We are very excited about this…..With social distancing measures in place as required, this summer, we are planning to open up our private, heated backyard pool for underwater video private coaching, and swimming lessons for the local community. Our club will be known as the Whitby Aquatic Club!. More on this can be found here or here.

For Sharper Aquatic Image, looking at our library of over 3000 videos on YouTube, you have watched our videos 15,000 times since the pandemic started and over 4,000 times in the last since October!. We are so very pleased that we can provide this service to you!

In the fall, while Byron was in Budapest for the ISL series, I had the pleasure of getting back on deck coaching with Linda & Doug at the University of Toronto Varsity Swim Team. We also briefly did some underwater video analysis until the shutdown took effect. What a great team!

In the meantime, lets keep our fingers crossed that we can continue plans with the Olympic Trials slated for TPASC from April 7-11 and more importantly, hoping that the Olympics can be staged!

Here’s a link to our 2021 Olympic Trial page…full of details, including the December 18 TOP 30 list

As always, keep in touch and if there is anything we can help you with, please reach out to us!

Kindest regards and best wishes for a safe and Happy New Year!

Jim & Diane
