Well, it sure has been a long time that I updated this page with some news! I’m keeping our Trials Page up to date, and starting next week, the 2020 Olympic Trials are confirmed for Toronto PanAm Sports Centre. I’ll do my best to keep you posted on activities and news surrounding the event.
As for “what’s happening” at my end, I’ve always maintained that it is best to be the “Jack of All Trades, Master of None”. I can dabble in Information Technology, Audio-Visual, cycling (7 times member in the Ride to Conquer Cancer), but I also have a 1300 sq ft workshop where I have built a variety of projects. I have also completely painted two houses in Whitby and Pickering, and a cottage on Manitoulan Island! This months projects include staining a deck and painting a condo in downtown Toronto.
But the GREAT news is that we have opened and cleaned our backyard pool at our Oasis in Whitby! It’s a private, heated 32’ by 18’ by 9’ deep inground pool! Diane is running swimming lessons for the Whitby Neighbourhood, with 40 kids lined up for lessons, including some adult lessons and Parent-and-Tot sessions too.
In the afternoon, we have set aside two 90 minute sessions for my stroke analysis coaching sessions. I will have my underwater video system set up as well as the on-deck video camera as well. Reviews on the iMac take place on deck too.
I’ve done some sessions in backyard pools before, and while it might be short in comparions to TPASC, this is not a training session. On video, we can see the stroke analysis in 6-8 strokes just the same at 24 strokes per length! As a result, swimmers are also getting coaching much more often too!
The other very cool thing we are adding to our training sessions is the installation of our LED Swim Pacing System called LumaLanes! Check it out at www.lumalanes.ca!
