YouTube Video Uploads

Its often said….”you get what you pay for”…and for the most part that is true. I recently experienced this with Rogers. Like most of us, I have a high speed cable internet connection, and generally, it has been ok. Not too slow and not too fast. There was an upgrade on my old street of new cabling and poles so I thought the service would be better or at least more reliable….frankly it was the opposite and amidst a few modem replacements, fresh cabling in the house and factory resets, I could never get Rogers to agree that the service was slow.

We recently had a vacation at a Muskoka cottage which was stunning. Part of my vacation was refining and editing upwards of 100 videos from the Summer Provincials. Upon our return, the Rogers internet connection was absolutely brutal. I needed to upload these videos to YouTube and each video was taking 7-9 hours!

Lousy peformance

After 4 phonecalls to Rogers and 4 different technicians to the street and my house, I am back online.

Here’s my trouble….the upload internet speed is fantastic. My videos fly out of this house. It’s only a 16meg upload speed, (and Rogers offers even faster speeds) but frankly, I have NEVER seen such speed, and that’s the trouble. I have been paying for 15meg upload speed all along, but in the last 6 years, NEVER received it.

Rogers has neve refused my payments. They are also refusing any type of compensation nor can they provide a reasonable answer.

In summary, check the package you pay for, and test your connection. Best place to do this is at www.speedtest.net.
